Meditations On Loving Kindness

Half-Day Retreat

Saturday 11th October, 10:30am-1pm

This relaxing half-day retreat will introduce the Buddhist meditations on Loving Kindness.

Normally we see some people as important and worthy of our love, others as the cause of our problems, and most simply as strangers, according to how we relate to them. Through these beautiful meditations we can begin to broaden our love to more and more people, developing Cherishing Love – considering all living beings to be precious and holding them dear.
This mind of cherishing love is the perfect protection from suffering and inner problems, and enables us to remain calm and peaceful all the time.

“The path to enlightenment is really very simple – all we need to do is stop cherishing ourself and learn to cherish others. All other spiritual realisations will naturally follow from this”
Eight Steps to Happiness, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

Join teacher Traci Finch for two gentle retreat sessions of teachings and guided meditations to uplift your mind and improve your relationships.

What Is Samsara?

Weekend Retreat

Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th October 2025

Understanding what samsara is, how it arises and how it influences our experiences in life, good and bad, we can start to develop helpful and positive starts of mind to overcome the problems of this life.

If we are suffering problems, chances are we in samsara. Samsara is not a place, a person or object “out there”, rather it is what Buddha called this state of existence where we have unhelpful and unhappy states of mind and a body which causes problems and suffering. Basically, when our mind is in samsara we’re suffering, one way or another. Even when we’re happy, we often think we are not as happy as we could be.

This is not bad news though! Once we understand samsara, we can put into practice the proven methods to over the problems and suffering we experience. By training our mind through these practical teachings and meditations, we can live a life without suffering and problems. We just need to know what to do and how to do it.

This day course, will explain all of this and enable us to take a new understanding of life and the tools to deal with its woes, with us into our daily lives, to create a happy, freer life.

Why Do We Suffer?

Day Course

Saturday 25th October 2025, 10am-4pm

Everyone is welcome. No need to book, just turn up on the day!

Where do our problems come from and why do they make us suffer unhappiness? Why do things seem to go wrong so often? Just when things seem to be going right, up pops a problem! We’ve all had these thoughts and experiences, but what can we do about them?

Whatever we do or don’t do, we need to understand that problems arise and we suffer either mentally or physically and that this is actually normal! Appreciating the nature of our life is to experience difficulties at times and even for our happy times and moods to turn a little sour on occasions, we can start to address the real cause of our suffering… our habitual and unhelpful ways of thinking and viewing the world.

During this event, we will explore the nature of our suffering, where it comes from, how we can influence it and how we can through training our mind in meditation, start to prevent unhappy states of mind from arising; no matter what life throws at us. This will be a very practically focused event, giving us the tools to use when we experience life’s up and downs in our daily lives.

Life can be so serious at times, and we become embroiled in the day-to-day trudge of life, carrying our problems around with us like heavy bags weighing us down. And indeed, life can be full of hardships and difficulties but there is an alternative way to approach these problems and to live a life which is lighter, more joyful and peaceful.

On this day course we will explore the role of our mind in creating the experience of being bogged-down in the everyday problems we face, why we try to control our life to be a certain way or for the desired outcomes of our wishes to come true. We will also learn how taking ourselves too seriously combined with trying to control our external conditions and experiences can actually creates the very problems we are trying to avoid.

With this knowledge we will begin to unravel the heaviness in our life, understand the true nature of our problems and to work with them in a positive and productive way, unburdening us from our load, moving towards a live lived lightly and contented.

Purification Weekend Retreat

This retreat is a wonderful opportunity to learn to rely on Vajrasattva, the Buddha of purification, and practice a special meditation to free ourselves from all of our negative karma.

We spend all our time and energy trying to avoid problems by making changes to our external world. However, our unhappiness and difficulties are not caused by the external world but are the result of the negative karma we have created in the past through our own harmful actions.

By relying on Vajrasattva, all our experiences will be positive, we will have a peaceful, pure mind and will easily remove obstacles to our spiritual development.

Attend all, or as few or many of the sessions as you wish.
